Perfectionism, Pooping, & Praying

Has the thought of not having everything all figured out or the fear of making a mistake prevent you from moving forward or taking action?

I know that this need for “perfectionism” has been a huge obstacle for me… There have been so many times where I know I have needlessly worried and stressed over all the “what if’s” and then more often than not, it turns out none of those things ever happened… So the end result is lots of pointless worrying when if I just moved forward when I had “enough of a plan” things would be fine and I could address anything that actually did come up, “on the fly.” *gasp* 😂

My latest foray in dealing with this issue is right now – with this blog… I had a burst of inspiration and so many ideas about what to do came to me so quickly! Then, the dreaded perfectionist in me started to emerge and I didn’t want to publish my website until I had everything “all set…”

Finally, I just decided, what is the worst that can happen if I share the site and it is “just a work in progress?” I mean, the whole premise of my blog is praying while pooping so I can probably flush the idea of perfectionism right down the toilet right??? Well once I thought about it, I figured what would actually happen is that the few people who actually read this will see that I am human and that I took a leap of faith. Also, I could have trust that anyone who was on my site would extend the same compassion and understanding to me that I would to them if they were in my shoes.

So, what is something that you have been wanting to do but the fear of the unknown and/ or not having everything perfectly mapped out is preventing you from moving forward? What if you threw all that doubt to the wayside and just trusted that you could do it?

Lyrics

Why You ever chose me
Has always been a mystery
All my life I've been told I belong
At the end of the line
With all the other not-quites
With all the never-get-it-rights
But it turns out they're the ones You were looking for
All this time

'Cause I'm just a nobody
Trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody
Who saved my soul

Ever since You rescued me
You gave my heart a song to sing
I'm living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
I'm living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus

Moses had stage fright
When David brought a rock to a sword fight
You picked twelve outsiders nobody would have chosen
And You changed the world
Well the moral of the story is
Everybody's got a purpose
So when I hear that devil start talking to me saying
"Who do you think you are?"

I say
I'm just a nobody
Trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody
Who saved my soul
Ever since You rescued me
You gave my heart a song to sing
I'm living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
I'm living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus

So let me go down, down, down in history
As another blood-bought faithful member of a family
And if they all forget my name, well that's fine with me
I'm living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus

So let me go down, down, down in history (Goin' down in history)
As another blood-bought faithful member of a family
(That's all I ever wanna be)
And if they all forget my name, well that's fine with me
I'm living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus

'Cause I'm just a nobody
Trying to tell everybody
All about Somebody
Who saved my soul
(Gonna save, gonna save my soul)
Ever since You rescued me
You gave my heart a song to sing
(You gave me a song to sing)

I'm living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
(Nobody but You, Lord)
I'm living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
I'm living for the world to see
Nobody but Jesus
