Bet you’re not too busy to pray if you do it while you poop

Growing up, it seemed like praying was a very formal process that required me to be in a certain place or do it a specific way for it “to count.” It never really occurred to me that there wasn’t a preapproved way of praying. My only other form of prayer came from those moments of desperation which would lead me to throw out a quick and frantic prayer – all without any real expectation of it “working.”

So what has changed? Well it’s a very long story but without getting into my whole testimony right here, let it be sufficient to say that “lil ol’ logical and practical” me had an encounter with the one and only Almighty and my life was forever changed. The blinders were removed from my eyes and a faith that I never even thought to even look for was all of a sudden a part of me. It was at this moment that my true relationship with God began and even though He was with me all along, I finally realized it as well.

Since my epiphany, I started to read about God and learn about Him for myself (which I highly suggest everyone do since if you truly seek after Him, He will ultimately make Himself known to you). As part of developing my relationship with Him, I began to realize there isn’t a “one size fits all” way of accomplishing this. There are definitely some tried and true ways such as reading the Bible and praying. However, the options within just these two methods are endless. The number of translations, types of Bibles, kinds of devotionals – either digitally, in print, on podcasts, etc. is truly unbelievable and the best way to see what you like is just try and see what works for you!

Now, all these options may seem overwhelming and it may seem like there are not enough hours in the day to figure this all out. However, what if you could start developing your relationship with God right away and on a daily basis (if not more depending on how regular you are. 😉). Yes! I am talking about praying when pooping! We all poop (and if we aren’t, we should be heading to the doctor). So why not do something productive like praying at the same time?

If you don’t know how to pray, just talk to God like you would a wise friend and ask for His advice. Take a moment (or several depending on how things are going in the bathroom 😉) and consider if any ideas have come to mind and pause and think about whether these are the best next steps. It takes awhile to develop your relationship and to be able to discern God’s voice from your own and that of culture but the more you do it, the more used to it you will become!

So, what have you got to lose (other than some solid waste)? Why not try out pooping and praying? Who knows, it might just become the gateway to doing a “dookie and devo.” 😉

Have you tried pooping and praying? If so, how did it go for you? Please feel free to share any “nuggets” of wisdom based on your experience! 💩😅

Lyrics

… Are you past the point of weary?
Is your burden weighin' heavy?
Is it all too much to carry?
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
Do you feel that empty feeling?
'Cause shame's done all its stealin'
And you're desperate for some healin'
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus

… He makes a way where there ain't no way
Rises up from an empty grave
Ain't no sinner that He can't save
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
His love is strong and His grace is free
And the good news is I know that He
Can do for you what He's done for me
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
And let my Jesus change your life

… Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Amen
Amen

… Who can wipe away the tears
From broken dreams and wasted years
And tell the past to disappear? Oh
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
And all the wrong turns that you would
Go and undo if you could
Who can work it all for your good
Let me tell you about my Jesus

… He makes a way where there ain't no way
Rises up from an empty grave
Ain't no sinner that He can't save
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
His love is strong and His grace is free
And the good news is I know that He
Can do for you what He's done for me
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
And let my Jesus change your life

… Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Amen
Amen, Amen

… Who would take my cross to Calvary?
Pay the price for all my guilty?
Who would care that much about me?
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus, oh

… He makes a way where there ain't no way
Rises up from an empty grave
Ain't no sinner that He can't save
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
His love is strong and His grace is free
And the good news is I know that He
Can do for you what He's done for me
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
And let my Jesus change your life

… Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah, amen
Amen
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Let my Jesus change your life
