Poop, Pray, & Politics: God is in Control

🎉 Election Season Madness: Spoiler Alert! God’s Got It Covered!

Hey, friends! So, can we all just agree that this election season is like riding a rollercoaster in the middle of a tornado? But here’s the best news: God already has the ultimate master plan, and it’s not changing no matter what happens at the polls. So, instead of stressing out or jumping into heated debates, what if we used this season to bring people closer to Jesus?

Oh, and speaking of keeping things in perspective (and having a little fun), I’m giving away a FREE presidential debate bingo game printable (including 14 bingo cards)! Yep, bingo! So, grab your favorite snack, settle in, and let’s remember that God’s got this – no matter how wild things get!

🏆 God’s Impressive Track Record

You might be thinking, “Okay, but what if *[insert candidate here]* wins? Disaster alert!” Whoa there! Remember, God has worked with some pretty surprising folks in the past—*cough*, talking donkey, anyone? His plans don’t hinge on any election, and obviously His wisdom is waaay beyond ours.

Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us to give our worries to Him with a heart full of gratitude. When we do that, that helps us find peace—and who couldn’t use a little extra peace right now? That calmness might just make people wonder how you’re so chill in the middle of the chaos. Spoiler: It's all thanks to the Lord!

So, here’s how you can keep your cool and maybe even help others find some peace this election season:

  • Take Care of Yourself: Get your Zs, eat some veggies, and maybe go for a walk now and then. When you’re feeling good, it’s easier to show love to others.

  • Limit the Stress: Too much political news got you feeling frazzled? Unplug for a bit and do something that makes you happy (Netflix, anyone?).

  • Make Prayer a Priority: Set aside a little time each day to chat with God, ask for peace, and pray for wisdom for our leaders. Trust me, it helps.

  • Practice Gratitude: Start a gratitude journal and jot down things you’re thankful for, it’s contagious—and people might just ask what your secret is!

✌️ Time for a Truce

We all have our opinions, and that’s cool. But turning the election into a spiritual smackdown? Not so much. Unfriending Aunt Mabel because she’s voting differently than you? Probably not the best way to show Christ’s love.

Our goal isn’t to win arguments—it’s to win hearts for Jesus. So, let’s be peacemakers, not pot-stirrers. Here’s how:

  • Listen First: Next time you’re chatting about politics (or about anything for that matter!), try listening first and asking questions. It reflects the patience and humility that God calls us to, which can open hearts far better than arguing!

  • Walk Away from Drama: If a convo gets heated, it’s okay to step back. No need to fan the flames—focus on loving others instead.

  • Share Uplifting Stuff: Instead of throwing shade, post something that promotes unity and kindness. Make your feed a bright spot for people scrolling through the chaos.

  • Keep it Positive: Use words that build up, not tear down. Encouragement is powerful!

  • Be Kind: Even if you don’t agree with someone, a simple compliment or thank you can go a long way. It’s a small way to show Christ’s love.

🌟 Stay Engaged, but Chill Out

We’re called to be good citizens, which means voting and staying informed—but without the stress! Here’s how you can stay engaged without losing your cool:

  • Educate Yourself: Do your research on the candidates and issues from reliable sources and different perspectives. Show others how to vote with grace and wisdom!

  •  Vote Thoughtfully: Whether you’re voting by mail or in person, have a plan and be prepared.

  •  Keep Calm: Feeling anxious? Take a deep breath (or five), engage in some relaxing activities, and remember—God’s in control.

  •  Spread Hope: Once the votes are counted, keep sharing hope and encouragement, no matter the outcome. Christ is our ultimate security.

  • Serve Others: Want to make a difference? Get involved in your community! Helping others is one of the best ways to share God’s love in action.
