Between Bowels and Blessings: Poop, Pray, and Prioritize Your Connection with God
Introducing Your Year-Long Authentic Prayer Journal:
A 12-Month Guide to Conversations with God
As the clock strikes midnight on December 31st, we often find ourselves making promises to be "better"—but what if this year, we focused on being real instead?
The Problem with Resolutions
Can we talk about New Year's resolutions for a minute?
I started reflecting on how we make these GRAND plans from "I'm going to make all our meals from scratch and serve them on gold platters" to "I'm going to wake up at 5 AM and pray for three hours and become so spiritual, angels will high-five me in Target!" 😅
But here's the thing - God isn't sitting up there with a giant checklist, marking off how many times we said "thee" and "thou" in our prayers. 🤦♀️ It’s about your relationship with Him, messy real-life moments and all!
Let’s Get Real with God Together!
This isn't your average list of resolutions that fizzle out by mid-February. This is your guide to creating authentic conversations with God throughout the year! Each month, we'll focus on a specific theme, paired with a Bible verse to help create authenticity in your relationship with God. Whether you're asking for healing, seeking clarity in your purpose, or learning how to not lose your cool when you're stuck in another traffic jam (Lord, give me strength!), there's a prayer focus to help you align your heart with His.
But wait—because this is Poop and Pray, you know there tends to be a little humor to the mix which is where the “Flush It” section comes in: a prompt to let go – because sometimes spiritual growth looks a lot like unclogging a toilet - you've got to get rid of the bad stuff to make room for the good! 🪠💩
How to Get Started and FREE PRINTABLE ALERT! 🎉
Click below to download your free Year-Long Authentic Prayer Journal! (Because who doesn't love a freebie?) Stick it on your fridge, tape it to your bathroom mirror (hey, we all know that's where the real thinking happens!), or keep it in your Bible—wherever you'll see it often.
Take a Prayer Break: Set aside time regularly such as at the beginning of each month (yes, even if it's during your bathroom breaks!) to reflect on the theme and start your prayer focus.
Journal It Out: Write out your responses to the different prompts and questions. Keep track of your prayers, God’s answers, and those beautiful “aha” moments He gives you along the way.
Invite Others to Join You: Share the calendar with your small group, family, or prayer partners. Praying together creates a ripple effect of blessings!
Remember, friends, prayer isn't about perfection - it's about connection. Sometimes that connection happens during your morning devotional time and sometimes it happens while you're scrubbing mysterious stains off the bathroom floor. Both count. Both matter. Both are holy. 🙏✨
