Winning with God: No Math Needed
Okay, friend—can we get REAL for a second? Some days, life feels less “blessed and highly favored” and more “did a tornado hit this house, or is this just another Tuesday?” 😅
You know those moments—when the dishes are giving you side-eye from the sink, your to-do list is multiplying like rabbits, and your schedule looks like a full-scale military operation (again).
But here’s the truth: even when it looks like you’re losing, victory is still possible.
The Battle Belongs to the Lord
The Bible reminds us that we’re not fighting alone. Deuteronomy 20:1 says:
"When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you."
Did you catch that? It doesn’t say if you go to war; it says when. Battles are inevitable, but so is God’s presence in them.
Victory doesn’t always come with fireworks and a triumphant movie soundtrack. More often, it’s found in the small, daily choices—showing up, staying rooted, and trusting God’s timing.
Here are three battle strategies to help you step into the victory God has for you:
Battle Strategy #1: Show Up (Even When You Don’t Feel Like It)
Some mornings, I wake up and immediately want to submit my resignation from adulthood. Anyone else? 🙋♀️
When life gets hard, it’s tempting to shut down and give up before we’ve even started. But sometimes half the battle is just showing up.
Galatians 6:9 reminds us:
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
Showing up might look like:
✔ Whispering "help" as you start your day. That counts.
✔ Playing worship music while your toddler throws Cheerios everywhere. Spiritual gold star for you!
✔ Taking a deep breath instead of snapping when you’re overwhelmed. Massive win.
God isn’t asking for perfection—just for you to keep showing up.
Battle Strategy #2: Stay Rooted (Even in the Chaos)
Jesus lays it out for us in John 15:4:
"Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine."
Translation? You can’t do this life alone. Trust me, I’ve tried. Disconnecting from God—trying to do it all on your own—is like being a twig cut off from the vine. You end up as a dried-out, crunchy mess. 🌱
Staying connected to God doesn’t have to be complicated. It can look like:
✔ Prayers while loading the dishwasher
✔ Worship music in the middle of a traffic jam (even if it’s a sing-through-the-frustration moment)
✔ Meditating on a Bible verse while brushing your teeth
Here’s the thing: messy connection is still connection. Staying rooted in Jesus—no matter how imperfectly—is what gives us the strength to keep going.
Battle Strategy #3: Trust the Timing (Even When You Don’t See Progress)
Some days, life feels like fighting with a plastic spoon while the enemy has a flamethrower. NOT FAIR. But when we’re running on empty, that’s exactly when God shows up with this promise:
Isaiah 40:31:
"But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
This isn't just poetic language—it's a reminder that God isn’t limited by our circumstances. He works in ways we can’t see—and often on a timeline we don’t understand.
💡 Your financial stress + God = provision and peace
💡 Your overwhelming to-do list + God = step-by-step progress
💡 Your impossible deadline + God = just enough time
With God, Small Things Lead to Big Victories
Think God can't use what little you have to offer? Let me introduce you to Exhibit A: that kid with the lunch box in Scripture. Five loaves and two fish – basically a happy meal for one – and Jesus turned it into an all-you-can-eat buffet for thousands! (John 6:9-13)
Your small acts of faith – a moment of prayer, choosing kindness, pushing through when you're tired – they're not just drops in an infinite bucket. God sees them and goes, "Watch what I can do with this!"
The harvest takes time, but God's timing is perfect. Breakthroughs can take a long time but can also seemingly happen in an instant.
In wrestling, you don’t have to dominate the whole match to win. A single pin—just in a moment —can flip the entire outcome. That’s God’s specialty—the moment when your small, faithful efforts suddenly change everything because, with Him, a pin is always possible.
To help you stay faithful in the waiting, I created a free printable called "With God, the Math Doesn’t Matter." Recognize and write down those victories as a reminder that God’s always working—even when you don’t see it. And when you look back, you might be surprised at how He’s turned those little moments into something amazing!

Your Spiritual Homework (Don’t Worry, It’s the Fun Kind!):
🔸 Write "With God, the Math Doesn’t Matter" somewhere visible—your bathroom mirror, phone background, or forehead (if you’re feeling bold 😉). Let it remind you that God isn’t done working yet.
🔸 Use the free printable to jot down those small victories—moments where God showed up for you, even in subtle ways. You’d be surprised how encouraging it can be to look back and see how He’s been faithful!
🔸 Next time life interrupts your plans, try asking: "Okay God, what are You doing here?" This small shift in perspective might help you see the situation differently."
