Winning with God: No Math Needed
Okay, friendâcan we get REAL for a second? Some days, life feels less âblessed and highly favoredâ and more âdid a tornado hit this house, or is this just another Tuesday?â đ
You know those momentsâwhen the dishes are giving you side-eye from the sink, your to-do list is multiplying like rabbits, and your schedule looks like a full-scale military operation (again).
But hereâs the truth: even when it looks like youâre losing, victory is still possible.
The Battle Belongs to the Lord
The Bible reminds us that weâre not fighting alone. Deuteronomy 20:1 says:
"When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you."
Did you catch that? It doesnât say if you go to war; it says when. Battles are inevitable, but so is Godâs presence in them.
Victory doesnât always come with fireworks and a triumphant movie soundtrack. More often, itâs found in the small, daily choicesâshowing up, staying rooted, and trusting Godâs timing.
Here are three battle strategies to help you step into the victory God has for you:
Battle Strategy #1: Show Up (Even When You Donât Feel Like It)
Some mornings, I wake up and immediately want to submit my resignation from adulthood. Anyone else? đââïž
When life gets hard, itâs tempting to shut down and give up before weâve even started. But sometimes half the battle is just showing up.
Galatians 6:9 reminds us:
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
Showing up might look like:
â Whispering "help" as you start your day. That counts.
â Playing worship music while your toddler throws Cheerios everywhere. Spiritual gold star for you!
â Taking a deep breath instead of snapping when youâre overwhelmed. Massive win.
God isnât asking for perfectionâjust for you to keep showing up.
Battle Strategy #2: Stay Rooted (Even in the Chaos)
Jesus lays it out for us in John 15:4:
"Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine."
Translation? You canât do this life alone. Trust me, Iâve tried. Disconnecting from Godâtrying to do it all on your ownâis like being a twig cut off from the vine. You end up as a dried-out, crunchy mess. đ±
Staying connected to God doesnât have to be complicated. It can look like:
â Prayers while loading the dishwasher
â Worship music in the middle of a traffic jam (even if itâs a sing-through-the-frustration moment)
â Meditating on a Bible verse while brushing your teeth
Hereâs the thing: messy connection is still connection. Staying rooted in Jesusâno matter how imperfectlyâis what gives us the strength to keep going.
Battle Strategy #3: Trust the Timing (Even When You Donât See Progress)
Some days, life feels like fighting with a plastic spoon while the enemy has a flamethrower. NOT FAIR. But when weâre running on empty, thatâs exactly when God shows up with this promise:
Isaiah 40:31:
"But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
This isn't just poetic languageâit's a reminder that God isnât limited by our circumstances. He works in ways we canât seeâand often on a timeline we donât understand.
đĄ Your financial stress + God = provision and peace
đĄ Your overwhelming to-do list + God = step-by-step progress
đĄ Your impossible deadline + God = just enough time
With God, Small Things Lead to Big Victories
Think God can't use what little you have to offer? Let me introduce you to Exhibit A: that kid with the lunch box in Scripture. Five loaves and two fish â basically a happy meal for one â and Jesus turned it into an all-you-can-eat buffet for thousands! (John 6:9-13)
Your small acts of faith â a moment of prayer, choosing kindness, pushing through when you're tired â they're not just drops in an infinite bucket. God sees them and goes, "Watch what I can do with this!"
The harvest takes time, but God's timing is perfect. Breakthroughs can take a long time but can also seemingly happen in an instant.
In wrestling, you donât have to dominate the whole match to win. A single pinâjust in a moment âcan flip the entire outcome. Thatâs Godâs specialtyâthe moment when your small, faithful efforts suddenly change everything because, with Him, a pin is always possible.
To help you stay faithful in the waiting, I created a free printable called "With God, the Math Doesnât Matter." Recognize and write down those victories as a reminder that Godâs always workingâeven when you donât see it. And when you look back, you might be surprised at how Heâs turned those little moments into something amazing!
